Angelina Jolie Tattoo Removed
Remember when Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thorton wore vials of each other's blood and gleefully tattooed each other's names all over their bodies? When the gothic romance ended, Angie had Billy's name removed and decided to cover the stretch of skin with the birthplace coordinates of each of her children. Angelina Jolie Tattoos and Meanings
Johnny Depp Tattoo Removed
Way back at the beginning of his career, Johnny Depp fell in love with his Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder. Johnny optimistically tattooed "Winona Forever" on his bicep. Alas, they broke up and he was stuck with the permanent evidence of a love story gone wrong. But crafty Depp had the "na" removed so the tattoo reads "Wino Forever." Because that is somehow better?
Niki Taylor Tattoo Removed
One of the caveats with tattoos is that they can impact your hire-ability. Supermodel Niki Taylor knows this all to well, which is why she's in the process of having her forearm tattoos lasered away. Taylor, 37, calls the tattoos, which have been with her since 2002, "deal breakers" and hopes ink-free skin will rejuvenate her modeling career.
Russell Brand Tattoo Removed
Russell Brand made a late night trip to Shamrock Tattoo in March 2012 to remove the ink he got with ex-wife Katy Perry. The funnyman reportedly had the Sanskrit ink (“Anuugacchati Pravaha” or “go with the flow"), on his right innner arm taken off while his new girlfriend, model Nikolett Barabas, looked on. No word yet if Ms. Perry has also had her matching writing removed.
Megan Fox Tattoo Removed
Tattoos are a huge part of Megan Fox's sultry bad girl image. She's got seven, including the infamous upper back tattoo that reads, "We will all laugh at gilded butterflies" (a quote from Shakespeare's King Lear). But Megan started saying goodbye to her Marilyn Monroe forearm tattoo in 2011. "It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar," Fox told Italian magazine Amica. "I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life." As of this writing the tat is mostly gone.
Eva Longoria Tattoo Removed
Turns out tattooing your husband's basketball jersey number on your skin is just as bad as inking his name. A year after she divorced San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker after a rumored sexting scandal, Eva Longoria decided to remove the "nine" tattoo from the back of her neck. Nothing desperate about that.
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards Tattoo Removed
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards both inked each other's names on their skin (he had her name on his wrist, she had his on her ankle). After their acrimonious divorce, Charlie had his tattoo removed and Denise covered hers up with the image of a fairy. Insert your own "WINNING!" joke here.
Britney Spears Tattoo Removed
Inspired by her friend and make-out buddy Madonna, Britney Spears got a Kabbalah tattoo on the back of her neck that supposedly translated to “responsibility for everything in her life and accepting she can heal herself in all ways.” Um, yeah. The ink might actually be fitting for the newly engaged singer now, but Brit Brit had the tattoo removed in 2008.
Tommy Lee Tattoo Removed
Fun fact: Former Motley Crüe frontman Tommy Lee once had a swastika on his much-tatted bod. No wait, that's not really fun at all. Since people don't look kindly on the Nazi hate emblem, Lee wisely decided to have it removed. As his lawyer put it, "The swastika was not a reflection of Mr. Lee's views... Instead it was simply a stupid tattoo obtained several years ago.''
50 Cent Tattoo Removed
When 50 Cent was a badass rap star, the tattoo sleeves on both of his arms were cool. But when he became an actor (we're not kidding, he's actually got a decent amount of credits on IMDb!), the ink became a headache that was too hard to handle so he decided to banish the tats. "It cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend in makeup covering them up," he told People magazine.
Marc Anthony Tattoo Removed
¡Que lástima! When Marc Anthony and Jenny from the Block called it quits after seven years of marriage, the Latin singer was left with nothing but two adorable kids, memories of their amor, and — oh yeah — that pesky "Jennifer" tattoo on his right wrist. Unsurprisingly, Anthony decided to say adios to the ink.
Mark Wahlberg Tattoo Removed
Back when he was Marky Mark, Mark Wahlberg acquired a funky bunch of tattoos, including a portrait of Bob Marley and a rendering of Sylvester the Cat. But now that he's a grown-up with a legit acting career, Mark has decided that he doesn't want the ink. He has undergone over 30 sessions to have his various tattoos removed — and he's even brought his kids along to try and teach them a lesson about the perils of permanent body art. "It's like getting burned with hot bacon grease ... Hopefully that will deter them," Wahlberg joked to Jay Leno.
Kathy Griffin Tattoo Removed
Kathy Griffin learned the hard way that sometimes it's better to go the traditional wedding ring route. The star got married and had a band tattooed onto her finger, but the marriage didn't last so she had the commitment symbol lasered off. Lesson learned.
Pharrell Williams Tattoo Removed
Pharrell Williams reportedly hated his arm tattoos so much that he wanted to have skin grafts placed over them. Since that seems like a huge waste of perfectly good skin grafts, the rapper decided to just have them removed instead. "Laser treatment bitches! Extra crispy. See, no skin graft here, just pure laser pain. This is our own version of Mythbusters! Laser is the new primer," he posted on his blog.
